Oman's Authority for Public Services Regulation Opens Bids for 1GW Battery Storage Project
Oman's Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has initiated the process of evaluating technical bids for a significant battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The project, which aims to establish a 1,000 megawatt (MW) capacity with a four-hour duration, is part of Oman's efforts to enhance its energy infrastructure. A total of 13 international companies have submitted bids to provide independent regulatory, technical, and commercial validation services for this large-scale energy storage initiative. The technical bids were opened on May 25, 2026, following an extension of the submission deadline. This project is a key component of Oman's strategy to diversify its energy sources and improve energy storage capabilities.
