Nithya Raman Surpasses Spencer Pratt in Los Angeles Mayoral Race, Setting Stage for Runoff
Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has overtaken former reality TV star Spencer Pratt for second place in the Los Angeles mayoral primary race. With 83.2% of the expected vote counted, Democratic incumbent Mayor Karen Bass leads with 34.68% of the vote, while Raman has secured 27.12%, surpassing Pratt's 26.69%. This development positions Raman as a potential contender against Bass in the November runoff, although NBC News has not yet projected the final opponent. Raman's campaign has gained momentum, with her surpassing Pratt by 3,113 votes. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk reported that more than 368,000 ballots remain uncounted, with another update expected soon.
