Amtrak Train Strikes Airstream Camper in Minot, North Dakota; No Injuries Reported
An Amtrak train struck an Airstream camper in Minot, North Dakota, on Friday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of 27th Street and 4th Avenue NE, where the camper was stopped on the tracks. Eyewitnesses reported that the Airstream was part of a caravan traveling north on 27th Street. The collision sent debris flying into a ditch alongside the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants of the Airstream or the approximately 265 passengers and crew members on the Amtrak train. The train, which was traveling west from Chicago, stopped for about 45 minutes after the crash before continuing its journey to Seattle and Portland. Local authorities are investigating the incident, and the rail crossing arms and signals were confirmed to be functioning correctly at the time of the crash. The Airstream International Club and Visit Minot are providing assistance to the family involved, who are from the East Coast and were attending their first international rally.
