Illinois Tollway Worker Killed, Two Injured in I-294 Accident
An Illinois Tollway maintenance worker was killed and two others were injured when they were struck by a vehicle on the Tri-State Tollway near Des Plaines, Illinois. The incident occurred early Saturday morning as the workers were repairing a pothole on the southbound lanes of Interstate 294 near milepost 41.5. The Illinois State Police reported that the workers were taken to a local hospital, where one succumbed to injuries. The identity of the deceased worker has not been released, and the conditions of the injured workers remain undisclosed. The accident led to the closure of all southbound lanes for over five hours as authorities conducted an investigation.
