Ugandan President Museveni and Aliko Dangote Discuss East African Oil Refinery Initiative
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni recently met with Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote to discuss the development of a regional oil refinery in East Africa. The meeting, held at Nakasero, focused on the importance of value addition and reducing reliance on imported petroleum products. Museveni emphasized the need for East African nations to collaborate on large-scale projects to enhance regional integration and prosperity. The proposed refinery aims to serve multiple East African markets, moving away from fragmented national supply chains. Museveni also reiterated Uganda's commitment to its domestic energy goals, including the development of a refinery in Hoima.
