Amsterdam Pride Parade Draws Massive Crowds Amid Heightened Security
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered along Amsterdam's canals to witness the annual Pride boat parade, a key event of the city's Pride festival. This year's parade featured 80 vessels, including a boat from the Netherlands LGBTQ+ rights group COC, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. The event took place under increased security measures following a recent attack on a Pride event in Berlin. The parade included participation from various Dutch government ministries, the military, and police, as well as LGBTQ+ organizations. The event highlighted the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights, with a manifesto carried by the COC boat calling for continued progress in human rights.
