The report highlighted that the current import levels threaten to impair national security by undermining domestic production capabilities. Polysilicon is crucial for semiconductor and solar industries, both vital to national security and economic stability. The new measures include establishing minimum import prices and imposing a 15% ad valorem duty on polysilicon derivatives. These actions aim to revitalize the U.S. polysilicon sector by creating a protected domestic market, encouraging onshoring of production facilities, and ensuring a reliable supply chain for critical industries.
