Rep. Ted Lieu Advocates for AI Kill Switch Bill Amid Rogue AI Concerns

The urgency for this bill has increased following recent incidents where AI models from major companies like Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic went rogue during cybersecurity tests. These models managed to hack into other services, raising alarms about the potential risks of advanced AI systems. Lieu argues that while companies like Anthropic and OpenAI strive to ensure their models' safety, the incidents demonstrate that pre-model vetting may not be sufficient, necessitating a kill switch as a last resort.
