Families scour southern Mexico after 40 migrants vanished on a dangerous sea route
On Christmas Eve 2024, Elianis Caridad Morejón Pérez, a young Cuban woman, told her mother she was boarding a boat from southern Mexico to the U.S. She disappeared along with 39 other migrants from Cuba, Honduras, and Ecuador
