Hobart Plan Commission Approves Amazon Data Centers Amid Public Opposition
The Hobart Plan Commission has approved two site plans for Amazon Web Services to develop data centers in Hobart, Indiana. The decision was made during a lengthy meeting that saw significant public opposition and tight security measures. The approved plans include the construction of multiple data centers across two sites, known as the Hobart Data Center Campus and the Hobart Tech Park. Despite the unanimous approval by the commission, the meeting was marked by strong resistance from local residents, many of whom expressed concerns about the impact on their community. The meeting also resulted in one arrest and the removal of two individuals for violating meeting rules.
