The American University of Rome to Honor Ambassador Susan E. Rice with Honorary Doctorate
The American University of Rome (AUR) will confer an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters on Ambassador Susan E. Rice during its 2026 Commencement Ceremony. Scheduled for May 15 at Villa Miani in Rome, Italy, this event will recognize Rice's extensive career in shaping U.S. policy and global diplomacy. Rice has held significant positions such as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, U.S. National Security Advisor, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. Her career has been marked by her involvement in peacekeeping, nuclear diplomacy, and global security. AUR President Scott Sprenger highlighted Rice's career as a model of judgment and accountability, qualities that the university aims to instill in its students.
