Representative Hillary Scholten and Advocates Condemn Republican Health Care Cuts in Michigan
Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI-03), alongside Kent County Commissioner Melissa LaGrand, Catherine’s Health Center CEO Megan Erskine, and senior Eric Schneidewind, joined Protect Our Care Michigan to release a new report. This report highlights that over 221,000 Michiganders have either lost their healthcare or are facing unaffordable cost increases due to President Trump’s health care policies. These policies include $1.1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and measures that have driven up healthcare costs. Congresswoman Scholten stated that Republicans have been stripping away coverage, increasing prescription prices, and forcing rural hospitals to close. She emphasized that many West Michiganders are struggling with premium increases of up to 200%, leading some to forgo insurance entirely. This event is part of Protect Our Care’s 'Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now' campaign, which is holding events across several states to draw attention to the impact of Republican health care cuts.
