VOICES Nonprofit Uses Storytelling to Foster Community Connection in Colorado
The Carbondale-based nonprofit VOICES, founded in 2016, is dedicated to amplifying diverse narratives through art. Executive and Artistic Director MinTze Wu discussed the organization's mission with Aspen Public Radio's Sarah Tory. VOICES provides platforms for storytelling through various art forms, including mural projects and live performances. The nonprofit aims to break down stereotypes and foster genuine connections by allowing individuals to share their personal stories. Recent projects include the Queer Voices initiative, which brings performances to Glenwood Springs, and Nuestras Voces, a Spanish-speaking theater project. These efforts are part of VOICES' commitment to creating safe spaces for marginalized communities to express themselves.
