Symptom-Tracking App Enhances Quality of Life for Advanced Cancer Patients
A new mobile application, SUPPORT+, has been developed to assist patients with advanced cancer in managing their symptoms and maintaining their quality of life. The app, created by researchers at Hong Kong University, provides weekly reminders for patients to complete a questionnaire about their symptoms and offers automated self-management advice. In a study involving over 1,200 patients, the app demonstrated its effectiveness in maintaining or improving quality of life and reducing hospitalizations. The app's success highlights the potential of digital health tools in providing proactive care for patients with serious illnesses.
