Nebraska Launches Initiative to Recruit Veterans and Families to the State
Nebraska has initiated a new program, the 'Good Life is Calling Veterans' initiative, aimed at attracting veterans and their families to relocate to the state. Governor Jim Pillen announced this effort, which is described as the first of its kind, on Tuesday in Lincoln. The program is a collaborative effort led by the Nebraska Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs, in partnership with various other organizations. John Hilgert, director of Military and Veterans Affairs, stated that the outreach has already contacted over 85,000 service members via email. The initiative seeks to present Nebraska as an attractive destination for education, job opportunities, and a high standard of living, emphasizing the state's strong economy and its people. Nebraska currently boasts the second-highest veteran employment rate in the nation, and the program has already received approximately 1,000 responses, including from individuals as far away as Japan.
