Extreme Heat Influences Global Travel Patterns, Says Booking Holdings
According to a recent report by Booking Holdings, travelers worldwide are increasingly adjusting their travel plans to avoid extreme weather conditions, particularly heatwaves. The company's annual sustainability report reveals that nearly 75% of travelers now consider extreme weather when planning their trips. This shift is driven by the growing frequency of heatwaves and the impact of climate change on travel destinations. The report, which surveyed 32,500 travelers across 35 markets, also found that 31% of respondents had changed or canceled a trip in the past year due to extreme weather or natural disasters. Additionally, 55% of travelers indicated that some destinations have become too hot to visit during their preferred travel times.
