Jamie Rhee Appointed Interim Executive Director of Northern Illinois Transit Authority
Jamie Rhee, former Chicago aviation boss, has been selected to serve as the interim executive director of the newly formed Northern Illinois Transit Authority (NITA). This appointment was made during the inaugural meeting of NITA's board. Rhee previously oversaw Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports under three different Chicago mayors before her retirement last year amidst a series of departures from Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration. In her new interim role, Rhee will be responsible for guiding the Chicago area's mass transit systems—the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace—through a critical transition period. NITA is the state's new governing body for public transit, consolidating oversight of these major regional transportation services.
