Cellcard Expands 5G Network with Over 500 New Basestations in Cambodia
Cambodian telecommunications company Cellcard has announced a significant expansion of its 5G network, deploying over 500 new basestations. This expansion doubles its 5G network footprint, now covering approximately 50% of Phnom Penh's population. The company aims to reach 1,000 5G sites by the end of July, extending coverage across the Cambodian capital, Takhmao, and the Central Region. Cellcard's CEO, Yap Kok Leong, emphasized the focus on providing a high-performance network with strong indoor coverage and speeds up to 1 Gbit/s. The expansion includes key urban areas such as shopping malls, offices, and residential communities. Recently, Cellcard launched its 5G network in Siem Reap, marking it as the third city to receive 5G services after Phnom Penh and Takhmao.
