Salt Lake City International Airport Joins TSA Program Allowing Gateside Access for Approved Non-Travelers
Salt Lake City International Airport has become one of 14 airports participating in a new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program that permits approved non-travelers to access airport gates. This initiative allows individuals with TSA PreCheck approval to greet or send off travelers directly at their gates, bypassing the traditional security checkpoint restrictions. The passes are free and require an application process, typically taking one to three days, and necessitate a known traveler number. Children can also be included on these passes. The TSA website states that this program aims to enhance the travel experience by allowing for gate-side welcomes and send-offs, facilitating meetings during layovers, and enabling access to post-security dining and shopping.
