Former NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre Ordered to Repay $4.3 Million and Banned from Leadership by Appellate Court
A New York appellate court has upheld a ruling requiring former National Rifle Association (NRA) CEO Wayne LaPierre to repay $4.3 million for misappropriating funds. The Appellate Division's First Department also affirmed a 10-year prohibition preventing LaPierre from serving as an officer or director of the NRA. This decision follows a lawsuit filed in 2020 by New York Attorney General Letitia James, which accused LaPierre and other NRA officials of self-dealing and mismanaging the organization's funds. The lawsuit alleged that millions of dollars were used for personal benefits, including private jets, family vacations, and luxury goods, violating New York charities laws.
