Airbus Advances Autonomous Flight with MQ-72C Test for U.S. Marine Corps
Airbus has conducted a successful test flight of the autonomous MQ-72C helicopter, developed for the U.S. Marine Corps. This test integrated autonomy and edge computing technologies from partners L3Harris, Parry Labs, and Shield AI. The helicopter demonstrated its ability to autonomously avoid obstacles, marking a significant step in its development. The MQ-72C is part of the U.S. Marine Corps Aerial Logistics Connector requirement and is being developed through a Middle Tier of Acquisition prototyping process. Airbus aims for a production-ready capability by 2028.
