Tanzania Connects Over One Million Households to Electricity, President Samia Suluhu Hassan Praised for Infrastructure Investments
Over one million households across Tanzania have been connected to electricity, with Dar es Salaam and Pwani regions recording the highest power consumption, exceeding 800 megawatts. Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila announced this development during the signing and launch of the Electricity Connection Financing Scheme between Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) and CRDB Bank. Chalamila attributed the increased electricity demand in Dar es Salaam to population growth and expanding economic activities, including migration to the city. He specifically lauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan for significant investments, totaling over 800 billion Tanzanian shillings, aimed at improving electricity and energy infrastructure in Dar es Salaam. These investments are intended to ensure a reliable electricity supply, reduce power interruptions, and support economic activities.
