Circle Foundation and UN Partners Launch Initiatives to Enhance Digital Payments for Humanitarian Aid
Circle Foundation, a philanthropic initiative supported by Circle Internet Group, Inc., has announced two new initiatives in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP). These initiatives aim to improve digital payments for development and humanitarian action. One grant from Circle Foundation will support UNDP in establishing and operating the Digital Asset Innovation Pool, which will focus on the responsible use of digital assets, specifically regulated payment stablecoins, in development programs. This builds on UNDP's previous pilot programs, which tested digital Cash-for-Work payments in Aleppo, Syria; disbursements in low-connectivity conditions in Haiti; a remittance-linked community investment model in Guatemala; and mobile wallets in The Gambia.
