Surrogacy Company Denies Threats to McKenna West, Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit
Vicki Ferrara, who operates Worldwide Surrogacy Specialists, has denied all allegations of wrongdoing in a lawsuit filed by McKenna West, a surrogate mother. West claims the company threatened to force an abortion and made misrepresentations during the surrogacy process. Ferrara's response, filed in a Los Angeles court, seeks to have West's lawsuit dismissed. The legal dispute stems from a surrogacy arrangement between West and biological parents Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed. After doctors identified a heart defect in the baby, Gilkar and Ahmed sought to terminate the pregnancy. West initially scheduled an abortion but later refused, traveling to Texas to give birth. Ferrara, a licensed lawyer, admitted to representing Gilkar and Ahmed during surrogacy agreement negotiations and confirmed that West was informed of potential financial penalties if she did not proceed with the abortion.
