Thailand Plans Foreign Visitor Fee and Travel Subsidy to Boost Tourism
Thailand is preparing to launch the Thai Travel Thai Plus domestic tourism subsidy in September, alongside a proposed fee for foreign visitors. The subsidy aims to support a wider range of tourism services, with a preliminary budget of 1.75 billion baht. The program will offer 500,000 entitlements through Krungthai Bank's Pao Tang application. The foreign visitor fee is intended to finance tourism-site development, visitor protection, and environmental restoration. The initiative seeks to benefit smaller tourism operators and extend the advantages of sustainable tourism to local communities.
