Senate Confirms New Leaders for U.S. Military Space Acquisition and Spy Satellites
The U.S. Senate has confirmed Erich Hernandez-Baquero and Roger Mason to key positions in the national security space enterprise. Hernandez-Baquero will oversee military space acquisition as the assistant secretary of the Air Force for space acquisition and integration. His role involves managing the Space Force's acquisition enterprise, which is undergoing significant restructuring to focus on mission-oriented Portfolio Acquisition Executives. Meanwhile, Roger Mason will lead the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), which is transitioning to a new satellite architecture aimed at enhancing resilience and imagery frequency. These appointments are part of a broader effort to accelerate satellite spending and reform acquisition processes.
