George Soros Among Key Donors Funding Cannabis Legalization Efforts
The legalization of cannabis in the U.S. has been significantly supported by private funding from a handful of influential donors, including George Soros, Peter Lewis, and John Sperling. These individuals primarily financed state ballot campaigns, playing a crucial role in the successful passage of cannabis legalization measures across various states. While the cannabis industry has grown into a multi-billion-dollar sector, the philanthropic infrastructure around it remains largely focused on two areas: research and policy/criminal justice reform.
