Watchdog Report Uncovers Waste and Unsanitary Conditions at ICE Facility in Fort Bliss
A government watchdog has identified significant issues at an ICE detention facility located at Fort Bliss, Texas. The report highlights millions of dollars in waste, unsanitary conditions, and inadequate health measures, including tuberculosis control. The facility, known as Camp East Montana, experienced serious incidents from August 2025 to March 2026, including two detainee deaths. One death was ruled a homicide, while another was a suicide. Additionally, a security guard lost a loaded firearm within the facility, which remains unfound. The report criticizes the rushed construction and contracting process, which led to these negative outcomes.
