Cincinnati's Cincy Soul Food Festival Canceled Due to Permit Dispute
The Cincy Soul food festival, an annual event celebrating Black-owned restaurants and food trucks in Cincinnati, has been canceled due to a permit dispute. Organizers applied for a permit in May, but were denied as special event permits for the weekend had already closed months prior. The festival, which was initially moved from Fountain Square to a private parking lot, faced further challenges when the lot owners were reportedly pressured by city officials. Despite the cancellation, organizer Jay Rodg plans to apply for a permit for 2027. The festival's cancellation has sparked concern among vendors who were counting on the event for business, especially during the busy Cincinnati Music Festival weekend.
