Canvas Cyberattack Exposes Data of Millions in U.S. Schools
Canvas, a widely used online educational platform, experienced a significant cyberattack linked to the hacking group 'ShinyHunters'. This breach potentially exposed data from nearly 9,000 schools, affecting approximately 275 million students, teachers, and staff globally. The attack led to outages and login issues across numerous U.S. colleges and universities. Hackers claim to have accessed sensitive information, including names, email addresses, student ID numbers, and private messages. Despite the breach, Vernon College reported that no sensitive campus systems were compromised. The incident has raised concerns among students and staff about the security of their personal information.
