iRobot Founder Introduces New Home Robot 'Familiar' for Lifestyle Enhancement
Colin Angle, the founder of iRobot, has launched a new company, Familiar Machines & Magic, which aims to introduce a new type of home robot called 'Familiar.' This robot is designed to interact naturally with humans, helping them maintain healthy routines. Unlike previous social robots, Familiar is intended for adults and is described as a 'physically embodied AI system' that adapts to its environment and users. The robot features a quadruped design with 23 degrees of freedom, enabling lifelike movements and interactions. It is equipped with a touch-sensitive coat, vision system, and audio capabilities, allowing it to engage users in meaningful ways.
