Winthrop FedEx Driver Bob Cochran Wins National Truck Driving Championship, Emphasizing Safety
Bob Cochran, a FedEx driver from Winthrop, Maine, has achieved a national first-place win at the National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh. This victory follows his ninth state championship win in Maine earlier in May. Cochran, who has been a truck driver for 39 years and with FedEx for 29, competed in the straight truck class against 46 other drivers. The competition involves a written exam covering industry knowledge, safety, and health, a pre-trip inspection where drivers identify vehicle defects, and a challenging driving course. Despite his numerous accolades, Cochran consistently emphasizes that his primary focus is on safety and serving his customers, rather than the prizes.
