Qatar and ITU Sign Agreement to Host International Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 in Doha
The State of Qatar, represented by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), has signed a host country agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to hold the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (PP-26) in Doha. The conference is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 27, 2026, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). This event is expected to draw approximately 3,000 participants, including high-level officials from the 194 ITU member states, as well as representatives from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and academia. The Plenipotentiary Conference serves as the ITU's highest policy-making body, convening every four years to establish the Union's strategic directions and policies, approve its strategic and financial plans, and elect its senior leadership, members of the ITU Council, and members of the Radio Regulations Board.
