American Feminist Poet and Activist Robin Morgan Dies at 85
Robin Morgan, a prominent American feminist activist, writer, and poet, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday at the age of 85. Her death was announced by her son, Blake Morgan, on social media. Robin Morgan was a pivotal figure in the feminist movement in the United States and internationally. She is credited with originating the clenched fist symbol within the feminist emblem. Her activism began in the 1960s with involvement in civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements, leading her to become a leading figure in American radical feminism by the end of that decade. Morgan was notably associated with the feminist anthology 'Sisterhood Is Powerful' and co-founded significant organizations such as the Sisterhood Is Global Institute with Simone de Beauvoir, and the Women's Media Center with Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda. In 2018, she was recognized on the BBC's '100 Women' list for influential women worldwide.
