Saharan Dust Storm Turns Sky Over Greece Blood Red, Causes Fatality
A severe weather event has impacted Greece, with a powerful storm front bringing gale-force winds and flooding. The storm, combined with a Saharan dust storm, has turned the sky over Crete a deep red, creating surreal and apocalyptic scenes. According to the New York Post, the storm has resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man in Nea Makri, who was trapped under a car and swept away by surging waters. The storm has caused significant disruption, with the fire department responding to 500 calls for assistance, including cutting downed trees, pumping water from flooded homes, and rescuing 33 people trapped by floodwaters. Power outages have occurred in various suburbs of Athens, and traffic has been severely affected due to downed trees and stalled cars.
