Austin Peay ROTC Commissions 1,000th Army Officer, Celebrating a Milestone in Military Education
Austin Peay State University’s Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program has reached a significant milestone by commissioning its 1,000th Army officer. Cadet Christopher Martin was commissioned into the Army’s logistics branch during a ceremony on May 8, 2026. The ROTC program, which began in 1971, has been instrumental in developing leaders of character for both the Army and the community. Lt. Col. Daniel Manor, professor of military science at Austin Peay, highlighted the program's long-standing tradition of excellence and commitment. Martin, who previously served as a military police staff sergeant, was pinned by his grandfather, a U.S. Army veteran, marking an emotional moment for his family. The program's success is attributed to its strong ties with the Clarksville-Fort Campbell community and its role in providing educational pathways for soldiers and veterans.
