IFC Appoints Thomas Jacobs as New Division Director for Levant, Iraq, and Yemen
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, has announced the appointment of Thomas Jacobs as its new Division Director for the Levant, Iraq, and Yemen. Jacobs will be based in Amman and will oversee IFC's operations across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and West Bank and Gaza. He succeeds Khawaja Aftab Ahmed, who held the position for four years. Jacobs brings extensive experience to this role, having joined the World Bank Group in 2003 and previously serving in senior capacities in Cairo and Beirut. His prior roles also include Interim Division Director for East Asia and the Pacific, and Country Manager for Viet Nam, Lao PDR, and Cambodia. His appointment signals a renewed focus on key development priorities in the region.
