Archaeologists Discover Ancient Civilization Hidden in Amazon Rainforest
Recent archaeological research using LiDAR technology has uncovered nearly 400 previously unknown earthworks in the Amazon rainforest, revealing the existence of an advanced civilization that thrived for centuries. The discovery, led by archaeologist Martti Pärssinen, suggests that up to 3 million people may have lived in just 3% of the forest's area. These geoglyphs, consisting of large geometric shapes, indicate a highly organized society engaged in agriculture and complex social structures. The civilization, named Aquiry, existed from around 600 BC to 850 AD, and its sudden decline remains a mystery.
