Leaders in Putnam, Connecticut, are actively campaigning for Amtrak to extend passenger rail service to the northeastern part of the state. This initiative comes as Amtrak is conducting a study to improve and expand passenger rail service between New Haven, Connecticut, and Providence, Rhode Island, a study that initially excluded northeastern Connecticut.
