Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Delaware, is moving closer to its goal of establishing a new performing arts center, thanks to a significant $2.5 million donation from local philanthropists Paul and Linda McConnell. This contribution brings the academy's fundraising efforts to approximately 80% of its $10 million target. Actress Aubrey Plaza, an alumna of Ursuline Academy (Class of 2002), is serving as the honorary campaign chair for the project, which aims to transform a 124-year-old building on North Van Buren Street into the 'McConnell Center for Performing Arts.' The project is part of the school's 'Blaze Brighter' strategic plan and is expected to break ground in early 2027, with an anticipated opening in spring 2028. The new center will not only serve Ursuline students but also aims to be a cultural and educational hub for the broader Wilmington community, including a partnership with The Brandywiners, a community theater group, who will be artists in residence.

Pasadena Tournament of Roses Announces 2027 Rose Court Members and Academic Scholarships

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses has officially announced the seven members of its 2027 Rose Court. The reveal event, held on the south lawn of Tournament House, was attended by nearly 200 people, including finalists' families and friends. The selection process, conducted by volunteer members of the Tournament of Roses’ Queen & Court Committee, considered various criteria such as academic achievement, community and school involvement, public speaking ability, and youth leadership. Each of the seven Rose Court members will receive a $7,500 academic scholarship. The 108th Rose Queen will be crowned, and the 2027 Rose Court will be presented on Tuesday, October 28, 2026, at Tournament House. These members are slated to ride on a float in the 138th Rose Parade and attend the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl Game, both scheduled for Friday, January 1, 2027.
