Teachers Highlight Basic Skills Lacking in Gen Alpha Students, Raising Concerns
Teachers are expressing concerns over the lack of basic skills among Generation Alpha students, as shared in a series of observations. Teachers report that many students struggle with reading with emotion, understanding dialogue, and comprehending chapter books. Additionally, some students are entering kindergarten without being potty-trained, and others lack the ability to tie their shoes. The use of technology, such as calculators and AI, is cited as a reason for students' inability to perform basic multiplication or manage their time effectively. Teachers also note a decline in imaginative play and curiosity, attributing it to overexposure to digital devices and structured playdates.
