Nursing Home Sues Utility Over Destruction in 2025 Eaton Wildfire
The Two Palms Care Center, a nursing home destroyed by the 2025 Eaton wildfire in California, has filed a lawsuit against Southern California Edison Company and its parent, Edison International. The lawsuit alleges that the utility's failure to de-energize its transmission lines during high wind conditions led to the fire that destroyed the facility. The nursing home, which had been operating for over 55 years, was forced to evacuate 45 residents, all of whom were safely relocated. The fire ultimately burned 14,000 acres and resulted in 19 fatalities.
