ACLU Sues King George School Board Over LGBTQ+ Club Ban
The ACLU of Virginia has filed a lawsuit against the King George County School Board, alleging that it blocked the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club at a local middle school. The lawsuit claims that the school board's actions violate the First Amendment and the Equal Access Act by applying a double standard to the GSA compared to other student groups. The board's decision followed community backlash and led to policy changes that effectively prohibit noncurricular groups at the middle school level.
