Tour de France Plans for 2029 in Germany Gain Momentum
Plans for the Tour de France to start in Germany in 2029 have gained traction following the recent conclusion of the 2026 race. Tour director Christian Prudhomme expressed optimism about the possibility of a German start, particularly in Berlin, during the ARD-Sportschau. The German Cycling e.V., led by former Minister President Rudolf Scharping, has officially submitted a bid for the Grand Départ in Berlin. The proposal is supported by several German state leaders, who will present the bid to the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) on July 29. The initiative aims to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the peaceful revolution in East Germany, with hopes for stages in central Germany.
