Penn State Graduate Accused of Leading Cocaine Trafficking Ring Tied to Fraternities
Agostino Abbatiello, a 24-year-old Penn State graduate from Westbury, New York, is among 14 individuals indicted in an alleged cocaine distribution operation linked to two fraternities at Penn State University: Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon. Prosecutors have identified Abbatiello as the largest distributor in the alleged ring, stating he was "at the very top of the chain." The investigation alleges that these fraternities hosted parties involving drugs and engaged in hazing rituals that included the use of these substances. The drug activity reportedly occurred during 2023 and 2024. Another individual arrested in connection with the case is Robert Zanolla, 24, of Manhasset, who prosecutors claim assisted in moving cocaine from New York City. The attorney general emphasized that the arrests serve as a warning to college students involved in similar activities, stating that such actions will not go unpunished.
