Study Reveals Preference for AI-Generated Stories When Believed to Be Human-Written
A study conducted by researchers at Villanova University has found that people tend to rate AI-generated stories higher when they believe they are written by humans. The study involved participants reading short stories, some written by humans and others by AI, without knowing the true authorship. Results showed that AI-generated stories were rated higher in quality and engagement, especially when participants were misled to believe they were human-authored. The study also found that participants with higher AI literacy were better at identifying AI-generated content, while those with literary expertise were not.
