Wheatland Residents Continue Opposition to Battery Energy Storage Site as Proposal Moves to State Commission
A proposal for a controversial 200-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) in Wheatland, Wisconsin, has been formally submitted to the state Public Service Commission (PSC) by Robin Energy Storage LLC. The project, planned for 60 acres north of Highway 50 and New Munster near an existing power substation, includes 200 BESS containers with provisions for future expansion. This move follows the rejection of the project at both town and county levels, making the PSC route the developer's primary option for approval. Local opposition, led by Jenny Morehouse, remains strong, citing concerns about fire and environmental hazards.
