Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 Rocket Launch Marks Major Milestone for India's Private Space Industry
Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based company, has successfully launched its Vikram-1 rocket, marking a significant achievement for India's private space sector. The Vikram-1, a four-stage rocket capable of carrying over 770 pounds of payload, completed its maiden flight to low-Earth orbit. The launch took place from Sriharikota, and within 17 minutes, the rocket met all performance metrics, leading to a declaration of 'grand success' by mission control. This launch positions Skyroot Aerospace as a key player in the global small satellite launch market, which is currently constrained on the supply side. The Vikram-1 carried customer satellites from companies such as Germany's DCUBED and Indian firms Grahaa Space and Cosmoserve Space. Notably, Cosmoserve's payload included a robotic space drone designed to manage space debris.
