AfDB Approves $10 Million Loan for Hyphen's Green Ammonia Project in Namibia
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a $10 million loan to support Hyphen Hydrogen Energy's $10 billion green ammonia project in Namibia. The loan, from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa, will fund engineering and design studies for renewable energy generation, battery storage, and desalination infrastructure. The project aims to produce two million tons of green ammonia annually for export, leveraging 3.75 GW of renewable energy and 1.5 GW of electrolyser capacity. It is expected to create 15,000 construction jobs and 3,000 permanent positions, with a focus on employing Namibian nationals and youth.
