Argentina Secures $700 Million BID Loan for Provincial Health System Digitalization, Mendoza First Beneficiary
The Argentine government has approved a conditional credit line of up to $700 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) to finance the digital transformation of provincial health systems. This decision was formalized through a decree, with Mendoza being the first province to receive $85 million from this financial umbrella. The 'Project for the Consolidation of the Digital Transformation of the Health System' aims to enhance the timeliness, comprehensiveness, continuity, and security of public healthcare in Mendoza. The funds will be allocated to digital infrastructure and equipment, information systems and digital services, training and change management, and interoperability, health intelligence, and cybersecurity. The agreement, signed by President Javier Milei, Cabinet Chief Diego Santilli, and Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, includes a guarantee chain between the national government and the province, with the national government backing Mendoza's obligations to the BID.
